Dead Island GOTY App Reviews

So i bought the game and was exited to try and play it but i found that it would not open, so after 3 times of deleting and redownloading it it still did not work. i have seen that many people are having this problem so i suggest to not get this game. At the moment it costs 21 dollars and that money was wasted. I’m very upset that there hasnt been any support to help people with non fuctional games. btw my game on opening would say dead island is damaged and cant be opened, delete and then try downloading again. if this happens then you know you’re gonna have a bad day as this means your games is broken...

Stopped playing the game as I did’nt want to start the game all over. What a waste of time.

I am a huge Dead Island fan, but after the recent update I lost all of my progress. Big Dissapointment Deep Silver!!

I’m revising my earlier review to add that the 1.01 update completely erased all of my saved files and progress. Hours and hours of quests and progress are gone because of the 1.01 update. This has been confirmed by other reviewers.

Is there any fix to losing your progress with the new update? I mean like that would be prettttty cool...

So no surprise here, but the new update erased everything over my character which really blows since I also played for hours and now its all erased. If it’s possible then I would like some way of undoing that, but if it’s not possible then I would like some sort of refund in regards to this dilemma.

I updated this title and all of my progress was lost. I went into my Time Machine Backup and recovered the saved data folder and everything was restored. This shouldn’t happen. It is a great game but if the upgrades are going to cause instability and potential loss of progress it won’t be a long lived title for me.

Deep silver really messed up deleting all of my progress. I had at the very least over 60+ hours on the game. I am very disappointed.

It doesn’t save. I’ve wasted hours on this game. That was problem #1. Problem #2 is that yesterday’s update wiped out EVERYTHING. Don’t waste money on this game, I was excited to finally see it on the Mac but it’s an exercise in frustration. I want my $ back.

Great game but for some reason after the update it doesnt want to install. Had this game for xbox and everything went well but on mac.. not so much. If they could get another update that would actually let me play I wouldnt be so disappointed in this.

I can’t believe deep silver has not fixed the download problem i downloaded it thinking it was fixed by now and its not you still can’t. waste of money

Despite numerous other low reviews, I decided to give it a shot, regardless. I purchased this on thursday, June 5th and it will not even clear 4gigs of download without firing an error and starting over from 0. This is absolutely unnacceptable. In this time- to make sure it wasnt network or itunes related I have downloaded Borderlands 1, Borderlands 2, Black Ops, and Call of Duty 2. They all wrapped up in under 2 hours. I intent to get a refund from the developers for wasting my time and delivering an unfinished, bug-riden product. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME, THE REVIEWS HAVE ALL BEEN BAD ENOUGH.

this game wont even start, i want a refund

The game works fawless to me on my macbook pro 15 retina late 2013 under yosemite dev preview 4. But what keeps me away from game is that I can’t use my xbox controller because boggle won’t support yosemite currently. I hope in the next update the developers bring their own driver like in bioshock, borderlands etc… However I like the game. A beautiful open word gameplay with hords of nasty zombies waiting for you to break their bones. :-D Can’t wait to continue playing with a controller. The version 1.0.1 is not current. I’m playing 1.3 (latest version). Don’t know why obove stands reviewing version 1.0.1. here in the App Store.

From what others say about losing their saves and stuff, i was sceptical about buying this game. I haven’t been dissapoited so far, as the game is solid, fun, and challenging. Well spent money. don’t listen to those who are bashing the update, they just want their saves from ealier back.

Dead Island support was hard for me to figure out at first, you must click British flag at bottom of page, join Deep Silver site, but they responded to email quickly. Problem was with App Store and Apple call gave me clue to fix- Use Safeboot restart hold left shift until logo starts, download. Awesome game when it works so we will see.
